Semifreddo con Fragole e Panna
I had some leftovers after making this Semifreddo con Fragole e Panna, so I made miniature Strawberry Shortcake-like treats from the extra sponge cake, strawberries, and cream.
With the semifreddo, I was trying to recreate two that I tasted while WWOOFing last month. At two different group dinners people brought Semifreddo con Fragole (strawberries) for dessert. The semifreddo is composed of a layer of pane di Spagna (sponge cake), a layer of whipped cream, and a layer of strawberries. You can make the semifreddo ahead, store it in the freezer, and then take it out to thaw a couple of hours before dessert. Mine didn’t taste quite like their’s so I may have to request their recipes.
